Veyrathi - Name Register

Purpose

This file collects a working Veyrathian naming system for:

  • temporary child names before ishar-yavath
  • Adult nicknames according to meya-therath
  • universal names
  • status high Enis names
  • typical regional and register variants

Basic logic

  • Before stable sexual differentiation, children often wear a soft kylar-meya, which is only intended for the early phase of life.
  • With meya-therath a new nickname becomes socially effective. This can come from the same family line, but it doesn't have to.
  • Most adult nicknames are associated with one gender through their ending, not absolutely exclusive.
  • Ten universal adult names can occur in all genders and count in every gender class.
  • Enis names sound longer, clearer and somewhat more archaic on average. They often carry ae, ey, -eir, -ael, -ir or -yen.

Variant notes

  • westl. = Western-Veitharian influenced contact form; often shorter, with fewer vowels or with slightly condensed word endings
  • altv. = ritual or genealogical full form with Old Veyatic breadth
  • hochr. = elevated or archival pronunciation; especially for Enis and office building contexts

Social Instruction Manual- A child's name is intended for intimacy, protection and closeness to home. When used publicly for adults, it quickly sounds condescending or invasive.

  • With meya-therath the adult nickname becomes socially binding. In council, school and travel contexts, only this is preferred.
  • Many families keep the lineage throughout the phase of life: Leya -> Leyan, Seli -> Seliel, Neya -> Neyael.
  • A change to another family line is also culturally plausible if rearing, rank or personal development justify this.
  • Universal names are often chosen when lineages are mixed, when rank neutrality is desired, or when a name is deliberately intended to appear mythical.
  • Enis names are often longer than necessary in everyday life. Shorter house shapes are therefore often used in the local area, such as Saeleir -> Seli, Leyael -> Leya, Vaelir -> Vali.
  • In formal contexts, Titel + Rufname is particularly natural for adults, such as Theror Vaelor, Bazhalor Saeleir, Seror Kavel.

Name usage according to context

In everyday life, the nickname is the focus. It is usually sufficient among friends, in the house, in the neighborhood, at school or in casual conversation. This seems normal, personally and socially appropriate.

In work, office, service and other institutional contexts, the role comes before the nickname. This is central in the Enarian framework because social legibility is less about descent than about responsibility, rank and function.

In registers, archives, travel documents, school files or medical contexts, the origin from the children's home is added instead of a family name. This origin does not primarily mark ancestry, but rather the social growth and registration unit. The children's home therefore acts much more strongly as a stable anchor of origin than an exclusive couple's family.

The exact formation of these children's house names and origin markers follows the additional module 18_Kinderhausnamen.md.

Basic pattern

Profession / office / serviceTitel oder Funktion + Rufnamesocially legible, condition- and role-related
expanded institutionallyTitel + Einheit/Gruppe + Rufnameprecise, close to administration, clearly assignable internally

Cultural Note

  • This system is deliberately not built like Vorname + Familienname.
  • The nickname is what the person carries in everyday life.
  • The role makes the person legible in the service.
  • The children's home makes the person permanently identifiable in registers.

Derivation examples

  • Leya -> Leyan / Leyel / Leyor / Leyath / Leyael
  • Neya -> Neyan / Neyel / Neyor / Neyath / Neyael
  • Seli -> Selan / Seliel / Selon / Seleth / Saelir
  • Kavi -> Kavian / Kaviel / Kavior / Kaveth / Kavael
  • Renu -> Renar / Renel / Renor / Reneth / Naelir

Work note

  • The adult registers contain 50 possible nicknames for each gender class if the 10 universal names are counted.
  • The child registry now includes 30 temporary names. It remains significantly smaller than the adult registers, but large enough for several house lines, regions and recurring characters.
